So I decided to change the fuel filter in my car today and add some fuel injector cleaner to it as well.

Well all was well today I was having a grand time, I pulled out the fuel pump fuse plug to bleed the system of its fuel started the car to drain it and blah blah blah.


About 30 minutes later, I changed the filter and it was done with put the plug back in and everything. I stuck the key in the ignition but noticed that the key chime tone sounded very faintly then before, and I was just like yeah whatever its probably nothing. Turned the key to starting position, nothing!

Tried again, no power at all, I toyed with the headlights and radio controls and ac controls everything, nothing was powered, not even the power windows or power door locks. I looked confused at the car and wonder what the hell happened. The battery was the main suspect but it didn't make any sense aside from the battery's age (7 years old) it was running fine and putting good voltage through. I got it tested several months before because I suspected that it was low on volts but it tested out fine.

Then we found out that it was indeed a shot battery and I ended up replacing it. I thought it did pretty good for the last 7 years but I am just wondering what caused it to die all of a sudden. I doubt I have a short anywhere near there, I bought another battery so the car is fine, the alternator is also new.

Kinda weird but funny at the same time....I was waiting for it to happen but I guess I kinda forgot.

 

I think because you had envisioned it, it happened, 7 years on a battery is preety good I think, could have been worse

 

Not bad, i dont even get a summer out of a $180 battery

Its time to buy another cap i think, i figure its got to be the stereo killing mine off. But the alt looks so old it could possibly be the original! At least it holds up.


7 years, i say its done its time. give it a proper burial

 

yeah it was weird, funny but I was still pissed...

Pissed because it broke down at the wrong time and at the wrong place...but whatever its all done and fixed now and atleast I have a new battery. I just dont think its gonna last me 7 years like the last one did.
