Air Conditioning Clutch acting weird
Ok well for a while now when my 91 RS is idle (only time I can hear the engine lol) I could hear a "CLICK" and the engine RPM would go up by about 300RPMs. So recently after being sick of it I watched the engine for a while and noticed the Air Conditioning clutch keeps engaging and the A/C is off.
Should I replace my Air Conditioner? Or is something else wrong?

It is normal, when the system pressure is low. Which could occur either when the temp is low, or when it's low of Freon.
So it's probably just doing what it's supposed to do.

It does it constantly temp doesnt seem to be a constant variable. Think I just need to load her up with freon and it will knock it off?
It wouldn't have something to do with my gas milage being so random would it?

Yeah it needs Freon then.
No it wouldn't have anything to do with gas mileage. It's probably not even operating enough of the time to make a difference, if it cycles that much while idling. If it's so low it's doing that, then it's probably not working (cycling "on") more than 10-15% of the time while driving down the road; and maybe less than that.

If it really gets on your nerves (as it did me), Disconnect the pigtail from the 2 pronged switch and let it be. I was told the switch itself could be bad. My mpg seemed to increase upon disconnection, but I could be wrong. Do a search and you should be able to find a few posts about it.

there is a cycling that happens in cold weather to keep it from freezing. (Not sure how that works though)
If everything is truely OFF, and it comes on, I would check the wires to be sure it is off at the controls.
Never heard of it turning on when freon is low.
Seems to be that would be a bad thing and the pressure switch should already have the system disabled if that were true.

Its really anoying because my tensioner goes balistic when it clicks on. I will be getting a new belt thatsa little tighter but still I rather not have the A/C kicking on. I will make sure all the controls are off and watch it again and see if it clicks on and I will update you guys.

Don't bother; it won't.
I'm assuming all this has been going on when you've got it in Defrost, which is an AC function.
Just put Freon in it.
