Could this be a fuel pump problem?

This evening I was driving in the middle of rush hour traffic trying to get to the mall, when all of a sudden my car starts to run like *** in idle mode, then when I went to go, there was no throttle response at all, the rpms sat very low and started shaking like hell.

Then it finally just died, I tried starting it, it just kept turning over and wouldnt start, so I said to myself this isnt the time nor place please not now. All the while the guy behind me got pissed off started beeping his horn at me (when I had the two signals flashing) so I pushed my car to the side of road trying to figure out what was wrong.

Once we got it off the road we tried starting it once more....and it did the same thing, just kept turning over. So, I left it alone and thought I was out of gas, so I took a little walk to a nearby gas station (atleast I thought it was until I got closer and it was a stupid minimart) oh well thats 1 mile walk, went back to the car, started up, it fired right up and we went on our way.

Occasionally the car did this, but this time it just did it at the wrong place. Last time it happened was about 3-4 months ago at my friends house, we just left it alone or let it cool down for about 30 minutes and she fired right up again.

Does anyone know what this may be? I changed the fuel filter early this week and she seems to have idled smoother. I have an exhaust cutout too but I doubt thats causing the problem.

Please help me, it doesnt happen often, I do have problems before with the car stalling and such but it always fired right up again. As far as I know, the car has done it three times total throughout the period I have had it.

Does this sound like a bad fuel pump?

You can guess what it is, or you can start diagnosing the problem. Test the fuel pressure. Check for spark the next time it occurs.

Really you need to start diagnoseing the problem . Nobody here will know exactely what it is and , can only share similar experiences. You will end up buying parts upon parts and finally stumble onto it , when you caould have just diagnosed the issue and bought only one part.

Anyhow . I had a bad injector do this , a fialing fuel pump , a bad or dieing MAF do it , a bad CTS sensor , failing ESC module .

All these can create the same symptoms. Now there are great articles on here on how to check each and everyone of them
