A ported/Extude Honed base will flow 270CFM. I believe the stock Edelbrock base flows around 240cfm maybe a little less. So figuring 2.0156 horsepower per cfm that is a gain of 60 horsepower. That is considering your motor to be 100% efficent but it is not so gain would not be that high. The flow with your heads and the intake manifold attached will be less.

Only if the rest of your combination can use the extra flow will you see a big gain. Heads, cam, exhaust and air intake. It all has to work as a package. It won't hurt anything to do it.

If your base flows 270 and your heads flow 220 then your base will only flow what your heads need so the porting of the base from 240 to 270 is pointless. To get the max power from a base mod then you will need some good flowing heads for max power.

if you put on better flowing heads with a better flowing intake, you get more air=more power

AFR 195cc heads will flow around 260cfm @ .500" lift. With those heads, it could be worth it to port the base. The corvette heads though, flow considerably less than that.
