dont know alot about heads and such, but these look like they sould be fairly good on a mild/decent 350 build (400hp)
also app. what are valves, studs, and guide plates gonna run to complete these?

Add valves, seals, springs, retainers, studs and guide plates and your price is right there with all the other well known heads. I would do some more # crunching. What is your plan for a combination? It all has to match.

flat top forged pistons
probably forged crank
stay with the t-5 till it blows then go with a built 700
not positive on intake yet, maybe edlebrock rpm or weilend stealth
then whatever cam will work for the setup
mainly a driver car, with a few track runs now and then

Some of the carb guys might have a better opinion on cams but the rpm air gap is suppose to work well. I would stay around the 180-190 range for runner volume. Should gain you some nice low/midrange power and pull easily to 6000 if you match the cam right. You can get dart pro 1's on ebay complete for $950. What does your budget look like?

A price comparison.
$539.99(bare heads) + $325(spring/valve package) + $48(shipping) = $912.99
The GM Fastburn Vortec cylinder heads cost about $1220 before shipping. The Edelbrock E-Tec 200 cylinder heads cost about $1120 before shipping. You're saving some money, but I would get some opinions from people who have bought the product before shelling out the dough.
For mild combo you are planning, I would lean towards stock iron vortecs.

If you plan on using a small cam, under .480 lift, just get some used vortecs, check them out for cracks, and upgrade the springs. You can pick up some used ones for around $300. Springs under $80. Or you could get some bare vortecs from Racing Head Service for around $450 already machined, another $200 to assemble them. Then you need to decide whether your going to stick with self-aligning rockers or guideplates. You can pick up some good roller rockers off ebay for $150, but thats more power in themselves. So thats $800 spent. Plus the intake manifold and gaskets and nickel and dime ****, your looking at $1000. You can easily achieve 400 hp with unmodified vortecs. Theres a billion articles on this. Now its up to you if the 40-60 hp is worth $500?
