will the hotcam pass emmissions?

right now i have a 212-218 487-495 cam and i dont have any smog stuff on the motor the proms egr is off, and ive been told i can pass emmission the way it is...i just need to back the timmin down and make sure the motor is hot, not sure if this is true or not but, how hard will it be for the hotcam to pass? im guessin ill have to put all the smog stuff on "not the air pump" to pass!

The HOTcam will even pass CA emissions. However there are much better choices than the HOTcam that will still pass.

From a TPI standpoint, that cam you got is a mother of a mid range torque puller on a 350.

Love it in my friends car.

They also make the one the next step up in a 218/224 and I believe .498/.498 lift that I like too.

I've run the hot cam and it should pass emissions just fine with a proper tune. Mine went thru the IM 240 style here cleaner than my 91 GTA(stock) without the AIR or EGR functional.

Personally, if your keeping TPI, from what I have learned and experienced, I would go with something of a less severe split duration than 10 degrees from intake to exhaust.

Again just my opinion.

At least put the EGR back on for the time being, it makes a big difference. Though all of this really depends on your state. My car came from Texas where they still have stations that just roll you through the door only checking things like head lights, horn, that you have 12.50 in your wallet. Keep in mind that getting it tested in or near a busy city will be more harsh, drive out a lil further into the boon docks and find a gas station that happens to do emission testing. If you fail, you usually have 14 days to fix the problem and come back for a free retest.

I ran the LPE219 cam with my LTR setup. Passed perfectly with just a cat.

If your ECM sends no message to the EGR solenoid, it would keep it closed resulting in the EGR doing nothing. Bypass the solenoid and just hook the EGR to a vacuum source. All the solenoid and ECM do for the EGR is provide finer control over when it opens and closes, it sould still work without the computer controling it. Might want to test drive it a bit after doing so, to make sure that its not letting to much exhaust into your intake.

I passed the "idle / 2.5K RPM" sniffer test running a LPE 74211 cam and no cat. AIR and EGR were functional.

i took the air pump off and the ecm is off for egr, so im hopin i can pass with just 2 new high-flow cats and the right tune. if not then i can try to turn on the egr and hook that up or just hook up the valve and bepass the sensor .......
