Best way to spend 2 grand on an LG4
I'm just throwing out ideas. I'm not actually going to put 2 grand into my 82 anytime soon.
Lets say the goal is to drop the et the most, but still be able to be daily driven.
Car- 82 Trans Am MSE
305 LG4, Open Element, 1 5/8 inch headers, 3 inch cutout,
200C three speed, stock stall,
3:73 Rear
16x8 Formula Wheels, Indy 500 245/50/16s
Et-15.9 @ 8X mph
Things that come to my mind are either a cheap crate 350, stall, and drag radials. Or a TPI fuel injection system with drs.

how about a set of 64cc heads,and a used 6-71 blower?
you really wouldn't mind that big hole in your hood would you?
besides, the sooner you grenade the 305,the sooner you can build that 383 you've been wanting!

The rest of the cars are my dads. Only the 82 is mine.
Yea, I've thought about it that way.
A turbo would run quite a bit of money. The cheapest route would be a custom rear mount. Depending upon how much boost, once the injectors/pump/lines are past there limit, the price starts to stack up. Plus the cost of a chip.
Where do you buy a GM 2 bar map from?

My advice is dont buy anything 305 specific. Anything you get, make sure it'll work good on a bigger engine so you dont end up with spare parts you cant use and have to sell off if you put a 350+ in it later.

buy the 350 vortec combo and toss a cam in it. or buy the $1300 longblock from GM, sell the heads on ebay and toss vortec heads on it with a cam. putting money into the 305 is worthless in my opinion, and i've gone down that route with a low 13 second 305 at the track.

4" bore kit.
305 heads with the "usual" working over.
A good cam.
TH350 (the TH200C will never hold up, at least not as well as a TH350 with the same money in it).

Buy a 350 short block on ebay for right at a $1000 shipped I've found 3 or more sellers that make them with quality parts. There is also two sellers that sell upgraded vortec heads with bigger springs and valves for $599 shipped. Voodoo cam with lifters $189 ebay. Air Gap crosswind intake $135 ebay. $35 timing chain ebay etc. etc. If this car doesn't have to pass emissions go carb.

I converted my LG4 from this

Edelbrock 1406 Carb, Edelbrock 7101 hi rise intake, Edelbrock 14x3 Air cleaner with K&N air filter,

to this, 87 TPI setup with 87 TPI heads convrted to a 90-92 Speed Density system, Crane Cams powermax 2050 Cam, SLP Dual CAI, 52mm TB, dynomax shorties with custom y-pipe and 3" Pacesetter Cat Back, MSD 6A with Blaster 3 coil, and some other minor stuff. Made the car a whole new beast.

Yea, I remember reading through your website Zepher, and thinking I shouldn't spend money on the carb and intake, just go straight to the TPI.
I like all of the data you have on your website.
