building motor, words from the wise?
I'm finally at the point of turning wrenches, and putting the engine together here.
350+.030 block
stock crank, turned .010 under
new ohio rods on new sealed power pistons.
So I just put in the crank, torqued down the arp main bolts (2 bolt mains), and checked end play, .005". a-o-k. I also plastigauged the mains, seemed good. put clevite bearing guard on the bearings, and a bit of oil too. sealer on the rear main cap.
Now i'm filing my rings to shoot for a .018-.020" end gap on the top ring (sealed power hyper H345 pistons). This is matching a ring to each bore.
slightly larger 2nd ring gap
not touching the oil ring.
should I worry about ring end clearance? or whatever the gap is called between the ring and the ring land above/below it? about .002" or so right?
and then piston bore clearance?
anything i'm missing so far? any tips or hints?
