I have a camaro with a 383 nitrous motor in it. It is fired by a msd 6a box and a 3 step retard attached to it, which is triggered by a pro billet distributor. I just finished adding the 3 stage retard and it fires and runs fine until you get into traffic, and somehting gets hot and shuts off leaving me stranded. It cools for about 7 minutes and fires right back up. When I am cruising it is fine. Has anybody had this happen before? Everything is under the hood and it was like 70 out today, but I can't remember this happening ever before.

Where should I start looking? Distributor? Box? Retard?

Is the box close to a high heat source? How's the ventilation around it?

 

Its in the engine bay, on the firewall, is it the distrib, or box thats getting hot?
