it depends on a lot of things.
my dead stock motor passed here with no cats & a non working EGR. the AIR system was in full working order.
i had a good tune on the chip, i used a 5 gas to help get it right for nspection.
without knowing what its doing, there isn't anyway to know if you'll pass the first time or not.
before going in i would pull 2~4 degrees of timing, it will help some on NOx & HC. check for any codes & fix them, make sure the O2 sensor is working good, a 195 T-stat, it probably wouldn't hurt to flush the injectors & a new set of plugs if its been a while sense the last time you did them, change the oil just before you take it in, a clean air filter, make sure the cat is working good, & then hope for the best.

Is the test IM 240 style on a roller or a sniffer up the tailpipe and a 1200 ropm and 2400 rom hold?
Roller style will require a decent tune and a working cat converter. Pretty much no way around it on these, believe me I have so so tried :-) Keep trying to I will find a way. lol
I'm assuming that u live in Idaho and it is the sniffer variety of test.
If you have any type of remotely close tune and at least a partially functioning cat, you should pass. U can pass them without a cat if you know the specifics of the test. Just simply tune for the area of the test and dont worry about the rest:-)
As always, hotter is better and so are things like fresh gas and oil and anything else ign. or fuel system that might need some maintenance.

i dont know if this will be true for you but my cat was old and worn out. So i just replaced the cat and i passed with flying colors. My car also doesnt have any other emmisions equipment on it.

Didn't we already go through this? I just did the same thing......no air...no egr...have a cat..... have fresh oil in it, O2 and pcv must be good and set your timing a 0*. Mine failed the idle portion badly. I did all of the above and EVERY part of the test dropped by half! This was with WAAAAAAYYYYY to much piston to wall clearance and wiped out valve seals! The car used 2 quart every oil change. Try it it will work!
