What should it run?
Im just trying to get a ballpark idea as to how good this combo is..
This is my setup:
1979 4 bolt main 350 bored 30 thousandths over
Comp cams xe262h-10
Heads that the intake ports have been gasket matched *otherwise bone stock*
Performer rpm intake manifold
Stock q-jet *uses an adapter for the manifold thats a square bore*
Headman headers, dont know what size.
Stock torque converter/rear end
Transmission is a 700r4, but it has a shift kit installed.
So what kind of numbers do you think this should show once I get it all put back together?
Here is a picture of the engine as I have it now, on the stand:

And of my car/garage:

I got the cam in the mail today, im about to place my next order that includes everything to get her running.

I'd say 9's flat.. but seriously there isn't enough info at all to even make an educated guess... You didn't even so much as say what kinda of stock heads they are..

well, now im totally confused...
One head is 3973487x
The other is 3998920
The block/heads are suppose to be off a 79 vette originally.
What other information could I give you to help you give me some idea.

Yup he was being sarcastic
All I can find on one of your heads is its from a 72-73 350, and the other one I can't find a thing. Maybe you misread some numbers? Either way those heads are gonna hold you back quite a bit. I would guess a mid to high 13. A buddy of mine was running a similiar setup with a little bit larger cam and some home ported double bumps, he ran a 13.3

awesome, yeah I plan on ditching these heads and saving up for some good ones. This whole engine build is basically a really low budget project.

Ah, I thought you said 14.20 because of the whole 420 thing and all.
I hope it does better than 14, my friends got an eagle talon with 20 lbs of boost that I need to somehow get ahead of.

Nah, I said 14.20's because you didn't mention anythng about the trans, converter, gears or suspension so I assume that it's all stock. Under that assumption low 14's are likely.

stock converter
trans is a 700r4 with a shift kit installed
rear end/suspension = bone stock
ill stick with 14's, thats a good number for me at the moment, especially since I plan on putting new heads/carb on it eventually.

to get past that talon your gonna need to get all you can and he'll probly still take you on take ooff. you need a 3.4? to 4.10 gearing in posi, sub-frame connectors, and at least rear control arms, if junkyard provides a aluminum drive shaft. oh and dump all un-nessasary weight (like a/c which with airbox can add up too 200lbs
)
then rewire the majority of the car to aswitch panel where the heat/a/c switches were......looks good too

Yeah, the talon runs 13.12 in the quarter..soooo I need to start saving up some money.
Future plans for my car are as follows:
New heads
New carb
aluminum driveshaft
and thats about it untill I save up even more money for other things
