Reinstalling roller lifters soon...

so i am going to be reinstalling my lifters soon into my 88 tpi . when pulling them out i did not notice which direction the tiny hole on the lifter was facing . Which direction should they face? Should the tiny holes on each lifter face each other or should they be facing away from each other... I hope i made this clear...help?
