Problem with 1989 Camaro IROC-Z
Problem with 1989 Camaro IROC-Z
I posted before, but I think I put it in the wrong place. Here's a simplified, updated problem I'm having:
Origonally the engine wouldn't even crank (outta the clear blue). Replaced the ignition switch and anti-theft relay, and now the engine will crank, but not fire. No codes (Other than 12). We have spark on the plugs, can hear the fuel pump running (checked the FP relay), and have pressure to the fuel injectors. Starter and solenoid both functioning. Best I can figure, the injectors aren't getting the OK to inject. Primarily, I'm trying to find the location of the "Fuel Injector Relay". I know it's interchangable with the MAF relays, and I have a new one ready to slap in, as soon as I know where to put it.
Please help, this otherwise VERY well-running Camaro has been down for 3 weeks now :-(
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Elliott Peach

There is no "fuel inj relay" that fires the injs. The injs are fired by drivers inside the ecm providing a ground.
There are 2 fuses (one for each bank) for the fuel injs. Check those.
Check for voltage on the fuel inj plugs with ign in the "run" position. Use the batt neg terminal for the voltmeter ground ref. One of the wires should be have voltage.

Alright... Tested, and the injectors are NOT getting a pulse of any kind. Run, start... Doesn't matter. No current.
I just bought a reman'ed ECM -- That's about all that's left!... Will be installing it tomorrow evening, unless there are any other suggestions? (well appriciated)
Thanks,
Elliott
