Transmission: t5

Axle/Gears: 373 locker

pre 86 cam and lifters in a 86 up block

I have a 89 305 I was wondering if I could scrap the roller cam and lifters and run a pre 86 hydraulic flat tappet cam and lifters? Could I keep my pushrods? I would like to run one of those comp cams nitrous hp cams. I would keep the roller stuff but im shure the roller lifters a worn and I dont like any of the replacment cams.

I *believe* you can just pop it right in, not 100% sure though. I know for sure that the pushrods will be a different length from roller to flat tapett though

yep, you're good. but for the price of buying all these new parts, or just buying the cam and having the benefits of a roller cam.....? (unless you have alterior motives.)

also, the newest (or maybe 2nd newest) super chevy or car craft did an independant test on nitrous cams. Didn't do anything (actually worse results). Never seen that kind of test in a magazine (one that DIDN'T promote a product), but it's worth thinking about.
