83 crossfire camaro problems

Hey guys Im really new to the car scene and I decided to make my first one this 83 camaro. Since buying it I have had troubles with it not starting easily and having it stall out on me randomly. When I took it to our local mechanics (after it wouldn't start at all for me) they said it seemed to be something wrong between the map (maf?) sensor and the computer or the computer it's self. Im looking to get this baby running the best I can before going off to school and would like to get what help I could from you guys so I don't sound like a complete idiot when I go to talk to the mechanics again (or if I can avoid them and do it myself all the better.) <!--StartFragment -->It's got the 305 crossfire injected engine in it. A little more story on it the last time I had took it in they just unplugged what I thought they said was the map sensor but it could have been the maf either way it was on the far drivers side of the engine compartment. The other thing it does is when Im in park idling usualy it'll run fine for a minute or two then it starts dropping real low in rpms and reving back up then finaly dies. This is the same usualy even if I've been driving it for a while. Please help me out guys I love this car and really don't want to get rid of it.

The crossfire system could give you fits, but there is a great website called the Crossfire Injection vault that should be able to stear you in the right direction.

CrossFire Injection Vault

By the way, I do not think that the CFI cars had a mass air flow sensor- those debuted with the Tuned Port Injection system introduced in 1985. Very different from the Crossfire. Good luck with your project!

Yeah it's a map (or at least not a maf) sensor if that's where it's located. If they just unplugged it I can understand why it might run crappy. They didn't fix anything?
