o2 sensor / CEL question
After I installed headers (hooker 2210s) that did not have a bung for my o2 sensor I figured "what do I need the o2 for on a dinosaur '84 anyway?", oops! My CEL comes on after about 5 minutes and my fuel mileage tanked. I have searched and most of the posts that I could find deal mainly with OBDII cars, not my car's system.
I would like to install an o2 sensor and the Y-pipe that I got from Mufflex has a bung ready to go. However, since it is in the y-pipe and not the header, would I need to use a heated o2 sensor? is this even possible with my car?
Thanks!

You can try using a non heated O2 sensor and it might work depending how far down in your exhaust it is. If you don't notice an improvement you can always switch to a heated sensor, or if you just want to be safe, I'm sure you could find out how to hook it up with a search. Or someone who has done it may chime in.

Wiring the heated O2 is smple. You will typically have two wires with the same color, and the third has a different color. The third one is the signal for the ECM and ties into the original O2 wire from teh harness. From the remaining two wires, one goes to ground, the other goes to a 12v source with the key on. Polarity is not important on those two.
