Non-Thirdgen, 3.4L engine questions

Hello all,

I have not been on this board in quite some time. My 1985 Camaro Z-28 is currently under restoration, while I am finally graduating college.

I was in a accident a few weeks ago and totaled my 1998 malibu, and I now have a 2003 Grand Am GT. Those things can scoot.

Anyways, I have been looking around and it sucks that almost all of the "mods" that one can do to the Grand Am GT is a ***** mod. Now I know that the 3.4L is the same block as the 3.8L and the 3.1L engines (am I right?) So are there parts that can be swapped in to get more power? I have already done the K&N filter and removed the MAF screen and have noticed an increase in power.

Other than getting into super expensive stuff, what can I do to get more power out of this engine?

Andrew

dammit, you just shattered my dreams of "bolting on" the "stock GTP supercharger" onto my engine "easily". I thought that a 3.8 was just a stroked 3.4.

Are you not thinking of the 4.3L? that is just a 350 with two bores chopped off, and a 90 degree v-6

3.4 is the same family as the 3.1 and 2.8L. 60 degree v6, not the 3800 90 degree.

check 60degreev6.com and clubgp.com they might be able to help. since this motor isn't available, or a smart swap, for a 3rd gen....

thanks for the websites,
Why should this thread get locked? I checked posted on the v6 board here and the 3.4l is all over that thing. why asking if the 3800 is able to be swapped in?

....swapped into your 2003 grand am. Totally irrelevant to this website altogether.
Might as well just mosey on over to those websites, or find one for grand ams, I can guarantee you'll get better, more specific help, and you won't tick people off, like you inevitably will here.

FWIW my buddy has a 2005 G6, 3.5L I think, and my dad had a 3.4L grand am, and now Alero, they haul, but the traction control kicks in on it's own sometimes, even if you disable it. Now that's something to remove. CAI and perhaps an aggressive muffler, maybe a chip, that's probably all you can do to those motors.
