Decisions Decisions.......
Hey guys, Whats up? im kinda new to this board, I was on a different board about 2 years ago when i owned my 89 GTA, but like i said that was a different 3rd gen. Board and it was a long time ago. Anyways, Im on this site to ask fellow Firebird enthusiasts for some advice. about 6 months ago i Purchased a 91 Firebird V6 with 108k. It ran great, it was strong and peeled out all over the road, (which really suprised me for i was used to a 5.7 and i didnt think this little V6 had the *****,.....but it did.) Anyways, the paint is the original white paint and in horrible condition, but the body is great and so is the interior.(no rust) The engine WAS strong, with good oil pressure, and always started up on the first time (still does) but 1 month into owning it and the water pump broke. I changed it, then the radiator got a crack right in the middle, so i changed it to a new aluminum radiator.
Then i made the biggest mistake of my life and i let my cousin drive my car. For some reason it began to overheat, but she thought it would be fine to drive it home over heating. next thing i know ive got water in my oil. I take it to my mechanic and he tells me what i already know, he says the heads need to be shaved down and the head gasket replaced.
so 1 month later and ive now got about $750.00 Which is enough to get the job done. But im nervous about fixing this car. Dont get me wrong, ive never seen an engine run so strong, and the oil pressure is still very high, and even after 1 month of sitting and not being started once it still starts on the first crank. But i dont know if i should spend 700 dollars on doing this head job when i still dont know if the cars gunna overheat on me again. and im also considering dropping another engine in it (if its about the same price) and then again i could just sell it as is to a mechanic for 500$, or i could repair it and sell it for about 1600$ and make a couple houndred more then just selling it outright now.
Anyways, what do you fellas think? How can i get some money back out of this? I already have a car. (95 nissan 240sx, I know, i went Jap, but hey, 22 mpg)
Any Advice, reccomendations or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

get the head job done. it shouldn't overheat no more. and besides you got the bad blow on that. normally the intake leaks.....which it probably is also.
anyway fix and keep it for like weekends......hell check the v6 board here and they'll give you lots of tips and cheap tricks for more power, trust me I had a 6 in my 83 but opted out for a 355
