any idea what this is?

I have a little canister bolted to the back of the drivers side head on my 86 berlinetta 305 4bbl rochester quadrajet it goes to the tach side of the distributor. What is this ?

Maybe it has a heavy duty truck engine in it? Seems like they had a Throttle Return Control module that is shaped like a matchbox on the driverside valve cover.





It is also possibly a condensor that has been added to help eliminate RF interference.

I can't get a picture its in a place I can't get to with a camera I'll try to get it out and take a pic, but it's just a capacitor looking thing with wires on each end. Its going to the tach wire on the distributor. It may just be a capacitor. I don't know. I was hoping someone knew what it was. Its the original engine.

It's called a tachometer filter. I'm not sure what it actually filters - but that's what its called !!!
