Troublesooting a Problem

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help out. Ill start out with sorry for such a long post but I'll try to state as much info as possible.

I have a 1992 Chevy Camaro RS 305 TBI with about 115K.

Every so often usally 1 or 2 times within an hours worth of driving the car will start to really hesitate. I will hit the gas and it will not really want to move. The engine will not run up or anything. I can put it into neutral during this and the engine will rev fine, but back into drive and the car does not seem to want to move and it will either just die or start to backfire. I have also noticed that while in neutral I will rev it up quite a bit and will get a slight advance from the car and obviously it should not move in neutral but it does. Also at times the car will idle in drive and I can take my foot off the gas and the car will slowly accelerate up to 40 mph without hitting the gas.

I have pulled the engine codes just recently. I came up with 2

code 15 - coolent senser - low temp fault.

I know I have a bad coolent sensor somewhere and have had a slight overheating problem from time to time.

The other one stumps me.

Code 53 VATS Alert (5.0L TBI) I would assume thats me.

How can this problem be related to my vehicle anti-theft system?

Anyone heard or seen anything like this before? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Avis

Reconnect or repair the CTS problem first. What you discover may be related somehow to the apparent VATS problem (grounding, circuit common connectiosn, etcetera).
