garage A/C
mods if this isnt in the right place please move it to the correct forum.
for those of you that do reg wrenching in your garage, how many of you have a window AC unit and how well does it work out in the garage? i dont mean the guys that added ducting in from the main house unit or leave the door open. i mean actually have a window unit.
im thinking about getting one soon as working in a garage down here with the door open is buffet time for the skeeters.
i know insulating the garage is a key factor and those are the folks im mainly aiming the question at.

depending on the size of your garage it should work just fine as long as its a decent a/c unit. and insulating it would help quite a bit too. i know what youre sayin bout the skeeters, i live in mn and it gets damn annoying gettin bit up all night.
----------
Also maybe try puttin in a ceiling fan or two. might help too. but as a carpenter i would recommend insulation first and foremost or your a/c will run all damn day and night when its plugged in.

Garage? Hmmm, I'll have to look that up sometime.
I'm assuming it's something to keep the skeeters off? Cool! Wish I had one!

Get one that's rated to your application, and it should cool just as it does in a house.I have a window unit in my 30x40 shop, and it keeps it cool on all but the hottest of days.I can't remember what BTU it is,but someone at your local do it yourself store should be able to help you with that.I bought one that also heats in the winter.I don't think it would keep itt warm enough by itself, but it's nice while I'm waiting for the woodstove to heat it up.

I can't remember what I went with on the plug, but you can buy about any style 220AC plug and wire it to the cord of your A/C unit.
I would also reccomend some cheap cieling fans, especially with that cieling hieghth.

eh id get 2 hurricane floor fans for the day time or to keep the cool air circulating and a 8-10k btu ac for a garage that size(in my house we use one 10k i think) which should keep it nice and cold so you can happily work.
