Second part of the question....can I use self-aligning rockers on a non self aligning head if needed?

1st question: Yes you do have self aligning Rockers, second question: Yes you can use self aligners on non self aligned heads. If you want to make sure, take one of the valve covers off and look for guide plates, or pull off one of the rockers and see if it has an indention where it contacts the valve (like a little recession the valve stem sits in).

Hmmmm....o.k.....what if I'm talking roller rockers...if the valve stem tip isn't high enough above the retainers,
won't the rails on the rocker tip roll on the retainers instead of the valve stem?
