350 cam into a 305?
Ok so I have a crate 350 and have my stock 305. Would this cam fit into my 305? Obviously there will be more mods to my 305 but Im just curious if this cam could go in. Here is the info on my cam that came out of my crate motor I have. The 305 came out of my 84 Z28. If I have confused anyone, Im taking the cam out of my crate motor and wanting to put it in my 305 motor. The crate is a GM 330hp crate *vortec* Gen II motor
specs:
Installed camshafts are hydraulic flat tappet with .435 in. intake lift and .460 in exhaust lift with 212 degree open duration intake and 222 degree open duration exhaust lobes at .050 in. ground with a 112.5 lobe centerline.

Nope.
That vortec genII is most likely a roller block and the genI in the car is a flat tappet.
If both are rollers or both are flat tappet it should be good.

The 330HP 350 HO crate has a flat tappet cam in it. It is a roller block, but doesn't have a roller cam.
Assuming the 305 is an '84, it has a flat tappet cam in it.
Shouldn't be a problem.

thanks. Both motors and cams are flat tappet hydraulic.
with that said it sounds like a go? I hope so. I have some plans for this POS motor. gonna turn it into a sleeper one day. Mild heads, with that cam, full exhaust. Ill just tell them its the 305 with headers!!
anyways, with that said if anyone has info on this idea *will or will not work* let me know

Why not just put the 350 in there which would make more power over the 305. the blocks are identicle on the outside, so if your going to lie about the motor you may as well make it worth your while!

i'd sell that cam on ebay for some cash as a "takeout" cam with no miles on it and buy a bigger cam for the 305 even.

But if he went too big he wouldnt have a chance passing it off as a stock 305 with headers

that cam might just plop in ( because of the lower lift) , going bigger he might need the guides milled down or other stuff to accomidate the bigger lift

If this cam will fit into my 305 it would be perfect. Didn't cost me a thing, its never turned over *new* and for a cam out of a crate motor, it has decent specs on it. Far better than the 305 motor cam.
Thing is will it fit. read the first post here to get all the info. someone is telling me that if its a 86 and newer Ill have no problem, but my 305 is a 1984 motor and the cam came out of the GM 330 hp crate I posted the specs, both are GEN II motors right?
