car wont start..
i have taken my 350 tpi iroc to 2 car shows, opened the hood and left it open for about 3 hours both times, when i close the hood and go to start the car, it just cranks and cranks, will not fire over until i spray starting fluid into it.
after that is done the car starts right up, even after letting the car sit for 2 days in the garage (with the hood closed) it will fire right up. it only happens when i leave the hood up for about 3 hours or so??????
unklechuckles19 witnessed this at the last show i was in.
any ideas or suggestions????
there is no light under the hood, it just won't fire over.
this is weird, and embarrising, it only happens when the hood is open like i said.
please help

that makes some sense, but i can leave the car sitting in the garage for 3 days, without starting it at all, with the hood closed, and it will start right up, it has only ever happened with the hood being open for 3 or more hours.
ANY OTHER IDEAS GUYS/GALS???????

Repeat the procedure that induces the problem. Test for fuel and spark.
Test fuel pressure only by applying 12v to the G terminal of the ALDL. Test again while running and under load by taping guage to windshield.
Try unplugging the MAF and see if it will start.
State of tune?
Age of ignition module?
You have to start the troubleshooting process from the start. It could be so many things it's impossible to diagnose with what you told us. For all we know it's a loose ground problem and it only occurs when you close the hood.

Re: car wont start..
If starter fluid fires it up right away then its your pump as previously mentioned. I have had the same symtoms happen 3 times and as said before , its coincidence about the hood. Maybe check the fuel pump relay but my moneys still on the pump.
