HOLY SHEET..383 Actually Started! Pleas Help Fine Tuning Timing and Fuel Pressure!!
I cannot believe the car actually started. First off, thanks to everyone on here for their help and support. Im 20 and this is the first thing of this caliber I've ever done, now I need to get it right.
I need help getting my timing right because this car won't idle at anything below 1800-2000 RPM's.
Motor stats:
383
Trickflows
Comp 230/236 .510/.520 (.544/.555 w/ the 1.6 Pro Mags) 112 LSA
HSR 30# Injectors
Stock 305 TPI chip
At 2000 RPM's the timing is showing 36* with the EST wire disconnected. I want to set it at idle but it won't idle. Can anyone help me with this?
Also, I can't get the fuel pressure right....Using the Holley AFPR it is jumping all over the place but not near where I need it. Im talking like 30-38 (ABSOLUTE MAX) PSI and I know the car with the stock chip has got to be running lean. When I screw in the AFPR to increase the pressure it will increase to a point then decrease (while still screwing it in!!!). I need to get more fuel pressure (even though it seemed to idle best when it went to like 28 PSI???)
Besides my voltage being low it went well, no other leaks so far than what I fixed last night
I AM UNBVELIEVEABLY HAPPY please helpme get this thing to idle!!!
TIA

well, i found out some things. Its running extremly rich, for the short time it was started the plugs are now black and there is suit on the oil pan (open shorties).
Im going to change the oil again tomorrow and see if there is any more metal shavings inside (I found what I think is a lot) and if it is alright Ill knock the fuel pressure down and fire it up again.
I know the timing is off, the fuel pressure (I guess) is too much, and im sure everything else needs attention (TPS, IAC, possibly the valves but I think they are good) so hopefully I can get it to idle.
I also have a horrible electrical problem...my voltage is under 12 volts with the car running. this is contributing to my problems im sure and my tach is acting so funky i cant even use it to ball park...
