oil pressure reading - new motor
Just out of curiosity, is this normal? :
Melling M55, plain jane pump, *mr gasket #26 high pressure spring*. Oil pressure sits at 60psi, no matter what. It won't idle as low as i'd like, but 1000-4000RPM that i've run it at, it sits at that reading.
Running straight 30wt oil so far, for break in.
From other posts, it sounds like it should be lower at my 1000RPM idle. Or is my high pressure spring doing that? Just curious.
Thanks

You shouldn't be at 60 PSI all the time...I just started my fresh motor too and it was sitting at 60 when it first started and the oil was cold. After it got to temp it went to the 30 PSI at idle (or the 1800 RPM idle I could get out of it) and 45-50 when throttle was increased.
Im running a M55A, the Z28 H.O. pump (whatever that means, I think just high pressure) and my builder said to ditch the high pressure spring I bought because of the pump I have.
Either way, 60 PSI all the time doesn't sound right.
