Jobs Taking Longer Than They Should
Let's face it, 95% of any job you go to do on your car has one or two little quirks that put dents in your rythem. What would take an hour under normal circumstances takes about 3, or in some cases, a few days. What are some of your simple jobs that were hindered by something unforseen?
Here are a few of mine:
Sway Bar Links
Today for example, just putting in new swaybar links...two of them fell out and two were broken off and hanging there. One link is different than the others because the washer is welded to the shaft, and it is broken off at the stud, so it will not twist off, or fall off. I have no other option but to cut it off and nothing else to use as a cutting tool except for a battery operated dremel. Well, I never did get the link off today because the battery died on me and I lost daylight so now I have to wait for the damn thing to charge before I can finish up. Three are done...but that last one
Swaybar links SHOULD = 1/2 hour - 1 hour in all, with taking out the old links
For me, thanks to one stubborn, broken, rusted on link = 2 days
Shift Kit
When I installed my shift kit, it should have taken me 3-5 hours to install it, but I could not get the cover to the servo off because the trans is too close to the body of the car. I lost daylight one night and then got called into work surprisingly the next day, so in all it took 3 days.
