Hey first post

I have a question about this engine. I am potentially buying an 88 Camaro and seems like a good deal. The guy I may be buying the car from says that it runs smooth, however there is a slight ticking from the top of the motor.

Was wondering what you guys might think it is? Might be a stupid question, and may be nothing, but I want to be positive before I invest.

Hopefully it's normal injector ticking. Otherwise it could be valvetrain noise.

 

yeah, my luck it would be something with the valve train being off. thanks for the fast reply

 

Its pretty common for people to hear the injectors at idle and go off the wall thinking its a bearing or lifter.

Does the ticking seem to go away when you bring the RPMs up?

If the noise gets louder and speeds up its most likely a misadjusted rocker.
