new heads and cam
I have just installed new heads and a new cam in my 350. my car had more power with the old cam that had a couple of rounded lobes. I don 't understand this. the timing is close. I just don't have the accelleration that I had with the old cam. also my car is heating up alot. i took it out for about a mile or two and in that time i was up to 250 or 260 on my just installed temp gauge. I am out of ideas. I did bleed the cooling system. I was wondering what would happen if i was one tooth off on the timing chain. I know that I had it lined up correct but I am now questioning what would happen if it was off one. it is frustrating. thanks for any help.
check everything that is different now than it was. might be a timing gear a tooth off or wires in wrong order, possible valvetrain mis adjustment with new heads also. Good luck. I would check and recheck the easier stuff first before checking the timing chain alignment.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Identifying the 2 cams might help.
Sounds to me like you have an assembly problem, if the cam is not a GROSS mismatch to the rest of the combo.
