car took a dump

so i finally completed my 305TBI to 350TPI swap and i was cruisin around pretty much idleing down the street and all of the sudden the car started backfiring and died on me....i have checked the essentials and have fuel pressure. i checked for spark and have no spark at the plugs. I have power at the coil and its a brand new distributor...other than a bad coil what could be causing no spark? im at a loss hear...thanks guys

Ignition module comes to mind. Why was the distributor replaced?

"Infant mortality". Failure early in use vs. living forever if it gets past the first period of operation.

It could also be something really simple like a loose wire/connector somewhere.

Some parts stores have machines that can test electronics.

If you still have the old distributor, you could try putting it in and seeing if it runs with it.

Thanks man. I took the module off and brought it to 2 murrays because I still had trouble believing it could have gone bad already but it sure was. Bought a new one from napa, put it on and the engine fired right up. No hesitations. Accel will be hearing about this one. Thanks again for the help.

LOL, Accell modules are crap. Too many people on here had them poop very fast.
I am still on the stock one and its been good to me for a long time.

Also make sure you use that grease on the bottom of the module, cuz it will overheat fast otherwise.

Good luck with your new, improved engine.

Laters.

On the other hand, I've had my large cap 7-pin Accel module in for almost 5 years without a single hiccup.

They either seem to be good and last forever, or fail early.
