Having problems starting after rebuild

I just got my engine back together and it dont want to fire off. It acts like it isnt getting any fuel or something. It aint dragging or anything when I turn it over just wont start. Any tips for starting one for the first time after rebuild? Man, I am tired of working on this thing I'm ready to ride!!! Thanks in advance!

Did you have the engine at TDC and the rotor pointing towards #1 spark plug when you installed the distributor?

well, start simple.

You need 3 things to have a running engine.

Fuel
Spark
Compression

Pull the #1 plug. Is it wet/dry? that will tell you if your getting fuel

Now hook the wire back to the plug and lay it on the closest ground point and have someone crank the motor. does it spark?

So if you get the wacky combination of wet plug with spark check your compression.

Other than that it should be straight forward. No gas, check fuel press. no spark check wiring, ect...

check and see if you have a good ground.. about the spark.. also check if your plug wires are in the right order.. make sure your spark is firing on the compression stroke and not the exhaust..
