priming my engine, quick question

Okay so i am in the process of priming my engine, i am getting oil to the lifter valley, i also see oil coming out of the lifters but they seem to not travel up the pushrod... could it be that my drill is not strong enough? Oil is spilling out everywhere else but the top of the heads, and no my pushrods arent cloged....my drill is the diagnosis?

Glad to hear you are taking the time to prime your engine. Oil should not come up the pushrods until the lifters are moving up and down quickly. Just verify pressure with a gauge before putting in the distributor and starting the engine up.
Time to light that sucker up!!!

yeh, it should have emough pressure, i forgot to put the oil pressure sending unit on it and oil must of flew like 2 feet in the air haha. I have to get a cheapo gauge and measure it. Its not like the engine just came from the machine shop, i just resealed a 305 tpi that im putting in my buick regal

your pump will prime it's self when you put oil in. the rest is mostly a feel good thing if you're unsure of the quality of work preformed and you stand a chance of flushing out any assembly lube you might of used.
