Can self align rockers be used on any head?

I have a set of GMPP guided rockers and a good deal on a set of AFR heads (# 918s) that come with guide plates. Can I use these rockers on these heads? Any requirement on the springs type? Do I need to remove the guide plates?
Also, does anyone knows the difference between "L98 angle" head and regular "angle" head? TIA

If you want to use self-aligning rockers, you have to remove the guide plates, and then I believe you need to use a hardened washer when you reinstall the stud (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong on that part).

Thanks. What is the washer for? To keep the same height of the stud?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
To keep the same height
More for the "depth", actually.

It doesn't make any difference how tall the stud is, as long as it's within a range that Poly-Locks will work on it, with whatever length push rods you end up needing. However, it totally sucks when you go to put the studs in, and the bottom of them hits the top of the intake port (which is right under the intake stud) before the shoulder tightens down to the boss. Guess how I know that....

I believe the L98 angle is about halfway between a straight and angled plug head.
