car stalls after it warms up

I let the car sit for a couple months and then started it up. idles fine and everything during the "warm-up" phase, take it out for a spin and then come to a stop, rpm drops and then it stalls. it will not stay running unless i treat it like a manual. left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas.

i replaced the egr valve prior to letting the car sit due to a rough idle. car ran great and then i bought an suv and never ran it for a month or two. first run around the block is when i noticed i had problems. any suggestions?

Check the IAC valve.

i have the iac out now. doesn't appear to have any carbon build up. i also changed this a couple years ago. i am going to clean it up and see what happens. any other suggestions?

If the car idles OK with your foot on the "air", its an air supply problem or the injectors are excessively lean. Check the air filter and TPS first if the IAC isn't the problem, then O2 sensor, then fuel.

as mentioned earlier i replaced the IAC awhile ago, however, i kept the original. i thought i would do some experimenting. so, i took the one off and put the old one on. when i cranked the car, the RPMs shot up to 3 grand and never dropped down. when i put it in gear it didn't stall.

i realize i don't want it to idle at three grand, but when i put the replace IAC back on, it idled around 1500 and then stalled when i put it in gear.
