12s all motor
Lookin to get a low 12s on all motor. Still have a streetable car, not to radical, with the trany and rearend in it now. 700R4 and a 3:73 limited slip. Right now i got a short block 350 .030 over, 400 crank 5.75 rods, and hypertectic pistons runnin 9.6 to 1, is it possible with that short block? What cam intake carb ignition fuel do i need. I also got a set of aluminum heads with 2.02 1.60 valves i could or couldnt use. What do you guys think. can i get low 12s atleast with the tranny and rearend, what do i need to do thanks.

A 383 running 12's, and streetable? Not a problem.
9.6:1, i'd say you want something like a 268 or 274 ish cam. Compxe 274 is quite common for that type of motor build.
Pump gas.
Any ol' HEI setup should work. Plan on spinning to 6k, no more.
Those heads give the 9.6:1 CR? Which heads?
Probably need the trans & rear upgraded before you go running 12's. I'd plan on subframe connectors (obviously), and upgraded LCA's, with LCARB's.

hmm, what size intake runner? what size chamber?
torquer intake manifold?
edelbrock RPM cam
better cam, better intake manifold. A fair bit of tuning. That should be pretty quick. I'm not sure about the heads... no name doesn't really give you much specs on them...

but whats a better cam? thats what i dont understand, I still want it streetable, i dont want to get to big that its hard to keep runnin at a stop light. I want fast acceleration cuz as much as i go to the drag stip i love goin aorund curvey roads and layin into it around the corner.

compxe 268 or 274. Both are smaller than what you have now, as far as duration goes.

238*/248* @ .050 .480"/.500" lift on a 114 lsa. i went 12.16@110mph with a 350 and 10.2:1 c/r. these were with 113casting aluminum vette heads and holley street dominator intake. 3.73's w/ open differential and no lca relocation brackets so you know i was having a hard time getting the m/t et street radials to stick without wheelhop. with my good rearend that's under the car now, the car probably would have gone 11.8's. and still had great street manners, i managed 22mpg on the highway with it once too. (with a 750 double pumper to boot!)
only downside is a need to adjust valves about every 6000 miles, though i like taking the valve covers off and looking to make sure things are wearing correctly.

Low 12's on the motor with a 383 should be pretty easy. The more displacement you have and the better the heads are makes it easy to go fast and stay streetable. Everyone's definition of streetable is different though. My combination wasn't the fastest or best by any means but it was extremly street friendly and ran low 12's at the track all day long. You can go faster for the same amount of money with larger solid cam, more compression, gearing ect..but if you want something street friendly this is the way to go. It idled very well(slight lope), required very little tuning, low maintenance, had plenty of vacuum for power brakes. I ran a best of 12.02@113 with it...normally I would run in the 12.2-12.3 range. Heres the basics of the combo.
383 10.2:1 compression, RPM Airgap intake, unported Dart Pro 1 heads(215cc intake runners), Hedman LT's, hydraulic roller cam 225/230@.05 .525/.525 lift, 750DP carb, 3.73 gears, th-350trans, 3500 stall
