Engine swap question
I am thinking....
My 91 RS with a 305 TBI is currently under distress...I am pretty sure the motor blew a head gasket, it smokes a bit on startup (which is the valve stem seals bad), no water in the oil, is missing out on at least 1 cyclinder, and I am tired of this motor. So, here is the ?, since this motor is ran off of the MAP sensor, would my 305HO out of my 86 IROC have any problems with the computer? I know the 4 inner intake manifold holes will have to be drilled to accept the different angle of the heads, but if this will save me the time of having to wait for getting a head gasket set by wednesday and having the heads sent in to machine shop to get checked for warps and replace the valve stem seals, why not use my 305HO that is just sitting around. I did have the TPI on it, but the car was totaled. I am setting myself back a little by going back to flat tappet cam also, but I need a car to get to work on Wednesday, 30 miles is not a good thing on a bike, and I am too lazy to ride that far (Hell I dont even own a bike). So, the question is with the exception of the intake manifold bolts a different angle, would the TBI have any problems with the 305HO motor?

Well after thinking on fixing the car and fixing the PC after my 475$ video card craps out, I think I may have to end up going to swap motors. What a crappy weekend....car dies 120 miles away, see ex wife, computer takes a dump, I'm gonna hide in a cave for the next 2 days....

Okay, since I am the only one replying to my own threads, here is what all happened to my 91RS on one road trip...
For starters, the radiator cap failed to keep pressure in the coolant system, the intake gaskets got cooked under extreme temperature, the water pump failed after getting a new radiator cap, and the thermostat also got fried under intense heat. And to top it all off, my other half couldn't possibly tell that the motor was insanely hot because I got to looking and found that the end of the temperature sensor broke off the connector....Well, after all this now I have a miss somehow, got all the work done tonight, need to find out where this miss is now coming from. Guess I gotta start pulling plugs tomorrow and find out where it went wrong. Any replies on what could be the problem is appreciated.
