dart&crane

whats going on guys? anyway i have my 305tpi all apart on my 89 iroc, while i am trying to decide what to throw in it, i met this dude that was going to do up his 305tpi but decided to go another path. anyway he has up for sale a new in the box fully assembled dart iron eagle heads 165cc 72cc 194/150 valves. and a new crane roller cam 2032 (104224). he is looking for 1000.00 bones for it all. i think the price is fair. in summit the heads are 813.00 and the cam is 270.00. my question is do you guys think this setup will work well on my 305tpi? peace..

Those heads would be a horrible choice for a 305. The ports aren't really any bigger than the stock TPI heads, and the chambers are HUGE at 72cc... the 305 TPI heads have 58cc chambers. You'd lose all your compression using heads like those Darts.

Porting your own heads is a great idea. Theres alot of potential in the TPI heads. Thats definitely a better route than those Dart heads.

The cam looks like a good choice. Its got about the right powerband for a TPI motor, and shouldn't have a problem working with the limits of the stock heads (1.25" valve springs, .480"-ish lift limit).

While you are throwing parts at it I would include a 350 block and pistons.

All I can say is,I wish I could recover from my poor financial decisions that well.
