Soild cam with TPI?

I have an engine block with internals from the late 70's and my question is can I use a solid cam with a TPI setup? The block would get ported 081 heads (no coin for new ones just yet), matched TPI base, ported plenum etc.

Transmission: T10, hurst shifter

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73

I don't think you can. It won't play nice with your knock sensor for your TPI setup, IIRC
