what kind of piston are these?

are these flat top pistons?...I know they are 0.30 KB silvo-lites....but is there anyway I can find out anything else about them..to maybe help me figure out the compression of the motor...they are in my 383 short block.

also the head gasket, its a felpro 1010...what thickness is it?..doesnt that help determine the compression?...the motor was suppose to be 10:1 from what Ive been told...that was with 64cc edelbrock performer heads 60899's

thanks!

You're better off just knocking out one of the pistons and looking for a casting number or something. Then call up the manufacturer and ask.

The 1010 is .039" compressed.

To figure out the compression, you'll need to measure how far down the hole the piston is at TDC. You can do that with a dial indicator, or a straightedge and a set of flat feeler gauges.

You'll also need to know the volume of the valve relief in the piston. You can use some plasticine and a graduated cylinder without taking a piston out.

ok, I did the straight edge method...I turned the crank a few times to see how the piston did and I stopped at where I thought it was just before it starts to go back down...with the head gasket that is on there I was able to get .036 feelers in between...with the head gasket off I cant get anything in between the straight edge and the piston...looks like it sticks outta the cylinder just a hair....

what that tell me?

I think I need to know cause I ordered a set of heads the other day and I got AFR 195's with a 65cc combustion chamber.....and if I need to change anything on my order I need to do it now...

can some one help me out?
