Car constantly in limp home mode Can't hook up a scanner!
This is an 88 Iroc-z 350 tpi, auto and I've replaced everything I can think of. I have a trouble code but I've never been able to read it...tried the paperclip trick only to have it not respond. We replaced the ecu to have the code go away then come back on after running for a few seconds. My car bogs down really bad unless you floor it...it stalls after the first startup...stalls when put in gear...stalls if you press the accelerator lightly ... Is there possibly a relay or something that could be busted?
I've checked the compression on all 8 cylinders to have it register at 140, replaced spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor button, coolant temp sensor, timing chain and sprockets, water pump, fuel filter (fuel pressure is correct), checked for vacuum leaks I think its at 18 psi, set timing...
The only thing I've noticed is that removing sensors doesn't seem to affect the way the car is running...we've pulled the maf to have it run the same and the IAC to have it run the same (the IAC by the way isn't getting power to it for some strange reason). I've physically done every job here and I'm really not ready to give this thing away because of the amount of time and money I put into it (switched over full interior as well...)
Anyone have any ideas?

You have to find out what code it's throwing, that will tell you where to start. GO to autozone and ask for a code key for your car, they will give it to you for free and make sure you are jumping the right terminals with the ignition turned to ON but not running. When you find the code let us know.

Think you may have some bad grounds? Bad grounds will reak havoc with the computer and make alllll kinds of weird things happen that are seemingly unrelated
