siphon problem

having a problem getting the hose into the fuel tank, it goes in about a foot or so but no more after that. I tried turning, pushing etc no luck, it's like theres something at the end squeezing or blocking it... what do i do? the hose on the siphon pump is not thick at all so it should go thru no problem- went thru fine in my s10...is there something down there i have to move? please help.

thanks,
mike

I think there is some kind of anti-siphon device in the neck, but someone will have to verify that.

Have you considered unhooking the fuel line and using the electric pump to pump the fuel out, or is this not feasable?

well i got a smaller hose down there no problem to siphon, (like a thick aquarium hose, but it didnt allow me to siphon as fast as i wanted so i bought a decent $15 pump siphon this one is a little thicker but not by much. but it wont budge?

i could unhook the line and let the pump do the work but the main reason i want to siphon is because the cars been sitting with old gas in it for a long time and while i'm not sure, but i believe the gas has sludged up- causing a block. so i wouldn't want to pump all that sludge thru my fuel pump..

is there anyway to drain withought having to suck it thru the fuel pump? probably not- but i'm not too educated in these cars so just wondering.

What about dropping the tank and pouring it back out the filler neck? I don't think it's too hard to drop the tank on these cars, but of course it'll be heavy dependent on how much fuel is in there

there is a little anti siphon buffer in the neck of the tank opening. you should be able to siphon the fuel out of the fuel lines in the engine bay, even without the fuel pump working. i was able to do that today. just make sure you get a rubbery hose that you can wedge in the opening of the fuel lines.
