Thinking obvious starter problem
I can try and start it whether cold or hot. I get a "click" then nothing. Then another "click" when i try to start it again. And then usually on the third try it cranks and starts.
Sometimes when it cranks and starts right away i hear a few clicking noises from somewhere that stop after a few seconds.
I dont think its the batt because i get full power to everything in the on positon and have checked my batt and alt with a voltmeter when the car is off and when running and all is well.
Its 15 yrs old and ive had it for 4 and has about 200k on the chassis and various components that werent changed with the 350 install about 1 month ago.
Is this obviously a starter that needs replacement?

if the car is 15 years old, and u had it for 4 years.
Then it atleast has a 4 year old starter.. i suggest buying a new starter $45 -$60 dollars at a parts store with a core charge, upon return of old one...
Its 3 wires and 2 or 3 bolts.. its a fun 20 min project getting under the car....
replacing the starter should fix this problem... if it doesnt the problem is a faulty ignition switch.. which im replacing right now on my 91 camaro

yup. cheap and easy project. if you have headers on your car you might also want to look into some sort of heat sheild for your starter. the heat from headers will help aid in the death of a starter more than anything.

Engine just replaced so i could easily see a faulty wire being the problem. Either way, I wont have time to do it until monday. My mantra is buy it first then look. Or else you have to depend on rides and you can always return a part if you dont need it.
Sounds like the starter or perhaps loose wire. Will check both and then move onto the solenoid. Thanks for all the reply's guys!
