Rattle/knock on a 20K jasper engine???
Hi, the warranty on the jasper engine I have expired last year, so thats not a choice.
Anyways, I have this knock (I am not totally sure) that happens at a certain RPM (right before shifts) when the car is warming up. It usually sound like (now this is the sound that happens). It would accelerate normaly then trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr "shift" accelerate normaly then "trrrrrrrrrrrrrr" so on. After about 10minutes it stops and I hear no noise even if I were to floor the car.
I have a hard time hearing it in park, but there are some faint signs of it coming from the bottom of the engine and/or the flexplate/TQ bellhosing.
Now, I've heard rod knock before and it was much, much more audible then this, and it was also a lot slower then what am hearing.
I am having a hard time believing that there is something wrong with the engine just because it was replaced not so long ago, and it was regularly serviced. The engine has great power, and nothing is out of the ordinary including the oil preassure which does not drop under 30 when the car has been drive for hours. Usually its around 40-60 all the time.

5W30 oil used. Maybe I should go thicker???

Well, probed with the stethoscope (thanks Tim) today and i hear ticking from the back (like very back) of the engine. Then for the heck of it I listen to the flywheel. Guess what??? Tick tick tick tick, trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (with accel). Now we know what needs to be done.
Again I have to work on the flywheel. I just replaced one in my 89 bird (sold) and my new one is ticking WTF. Oh, well, at least its nothing in the engine. Plus it sounds nothing like a rod knock and I am GLAD.
So if someone comes by this thread I thought I put up this answer.
Check you flywheel/flexplate (whatever you have Auto or manual) and make sure its not loose or cracked.
And, a mechanics stethoscope is probably the best investment you can make. It pin points the problem in a second.
