Lifter issues Comp Cams

I recently put in a Comp Cams 268 cam and lifters.... she is now running but the number one cylinder/exhaust lifter doesn't want to pump up,,,it is still springy when push on the push rod....

Has anyone ever had this problem with comp lifters.....all of the other are working just fine.... just that one is acting up...

Is the cam a flat tappet or roller?

Sounds like a wiped cam lobe. Titen the lifter down till it is not springy then turn the motor over. If the rocker dosent move then you need a new cam, and possibly rebuild because of the metal shaving geting in the bearings.

Good lord, I don't wan't to make this post for fear of sounding like a red neck.
Adjust the rocker so it is nice and loose at TDC.
Get a plastic faced hammer.
Run the engine at idle and whack on the pushrod side of the rocker.
It is enough to get a trapped piece of trash off of the lifter's internal check valve seat.
There, I said it. If that doesn't work then the lifter is bad.

1. it is a roller

2. the cam lobe is fine, this was after break in, and the lobe travel is right (dial indicator)

3. if there is something in the lift ("trash" I hope not), I think i will just pull the dizzy and the HSR...it only takes 15mins, but thanks for the Idea

and for the those last two idea's I am deffinately pulling the intake, and looking at the lifter, if it is a wiped lobe the lifter won't look good, if there is something in the lifter,or the lifter is just junk this will tell me a little more

I found 1 spongy one in a set of 16 new 885 lifters before I installed them. I contacted Comp and they Fed Exed me a replacement pair of lifters at no charge.
