my whole interior is light grey

I live in the Sacramento area, I'm willing to drive a bit though, we'll both be one step closer to our desired interior colors, lol.

i was pretty much referring to the plastics anyways

whatever we decide is fair game is fine by me, can you take pics?

i'll get you some pics in your PM tomorrow, and we'll continue the convo that way

Dimmer switch out of adjustment.

The switch itself is on the top of the steering column, near the floor. There's a long rod that goes from the lever you pull on, down to the switch. 2 screws hold the switch on. Loosen them, adjust the switch along the column until it works right, tighten them back down.

I never knew we had a highbeam... i just normally turn on the flash light I usually have stashed since the dome light never works, for when it just gets too dark out there.

There are sometimes issues with the dimmer switch but the actual dimmer is sometimes not the problem. There is a pivot switch in there that often breaks and is expensive and hard to replace. When mine broke I installed a toggle switch for the high and low beams, but you could also install a floor mounted switch if infact it's not your dimmer switch that's faulty.

take the steering wheel.. push it DOWN towards the floor (not IN, but down.)
then while its down, pull the lever back..

when the column wears out, sometimes you have to press on the tilt mechanism (thats what you're doing with the wheel) for the high/low beam switch to click.

hey thanks for help guys..
i never really need high beam anyways, so if
tilting the column downward and pulling the lever doesnt work,
i might just cut the high beam wire near the headlight assembly caz I swear i never need them..

i wish our car was a bit better when it comes to electricity

cut the ... wire
And this would make the car better.... how??

Don't cut anything. Adjust the switch.

There's nothing wrong with these cars electrically, that's any different from any other cars. Except that too many people with too many pairs of dykes have owned them before we got them. Don't be one of those that destroys their car's electrical system deliberately, and then somehow thinks that it's the car's fault.

exactly. It is age and other drivers, not the car itself.

Anyway depending on your area you will need high beams to pass inspection...i know i do.

No....

That piece is about 2 feet from where the problem is. If it's not broken off, it's probably OK. Don't worry about it just yet.

Look at where the steering column meets the firewall. Follow the column up toward the wheel about 8". You'll find 2 large switches mounted on top of it there. One has about 10 wires, mostly real thick heavy ones, including a couple of big red ones a pink one, orange, brown, and a few others; that's the ignition switch. The other has about 4 smaller wires that are green, tan, and blue. That's the dimmer switch. Loosen its screws, slide it up or down along the column against its rod until the rod actuates it properly, tighten the screws back down.
