help with heads plz!
motor: 355cid
camshaft:
lunati voodoo
hydraulic flat tappet
.050 duration: 227in 233ex
Valve Lift: .489in .504ex
lobe seperation: 110in 110ex
1,800-6,200 RPM
intake: Tuned Port Injection (will be changed after cam/heads are done, to an ACCEL SUPER RAM)
what heads should i go with?? right now i'm running the stock 305 heads with 58cc combustion chambers, i'd like to stick to around the same compression, or more, still being able to run 93 octane minimum. i'd like a set of heads off summit, any idea's? i was checking out some trick flows...... what else do you guys suggest?? i'm buying soon so let me know! thanks!!!
ps. i will be adding compcams 1.6 roller rockers to those heads.... so the cam data will be changed a bit.

I thought you had 56cc trickflow heads??
350, with stock internals? stock pistons, stock deck height? I'm just curious, you don't want to drop your CR too much. Was the shortblock a TPI shortblock or..?

i made my shortblock, all the internals are stock, the pistons have 4 valve reliefs on them, with my 305 heads with their 58cc combustion chambers, i make about 10:1 compression right now.
i never got those heads, i got into an accident and i had to do a lot of body work

those trickflows would work well.
What kind of budget are you looking at?
Porting your heads would also work, but again, how much are you willing to spend?

I can't see EFI being too happy with a cam like that...
Anyway, I'd suggest TrickFlow 195's with either the 62cc chambers, or 64cc CNC chambers. If you want the 'jukyard special' like I did, find some 601 castings and work them over a bit... port work and all that, big valves, add a set of screw-in studs and guideplates, and they make great performance heads. Thats what I'm using on my 350.

well, in the garage i have a set of .113 aluminum 350 heads, off a corvette. only thing is, the flow numbers on those heads are extremely similar to my current heads, only difference is they have 1.94 valves, insted of the 1.84 valves in my 305 heads. however, they have screw in studs, and a set of 1.6 roller rockers on them already..... they are also 58cc heads like my 305 heads by the way.

Althou the stock popular online flow numbers for the 113 heads are pretty modest, these heads really come alive with full porting. All you need to do is get busy porting your corvette heads. Your 416's have a lot of power potential also ut since you have the corvette heads on hand, use them.
You can go up to a 2.00"x 1.56" valve set in those heads without replaceing the steel valve seats. These heads have easy 450+ hp potential with proper porting and the larger valves. MW66nova is running very strong with mildy/moderatly reworked 113 heads on a 305 no less. you can too.

only thing is i'm afraid of spending like the same amount working these heads as i would have spent just buying a set of aftermarket heads......

you already have the screw in studs and roller rockers.. You don't need to pay for the bigger valves, stick with 1.94/1.5, that'll do you fine. Die grinder work doesn't break the bank, those tools can be re-used on your next project. Just clean up the throat area, and open up the exhaust port. Bolt 'em on with a thin head gasket to keep up your CR. It'll run great!
