Failing IAC?

Every now and then, say maybe once every 2 weeks on average I will crank my engine as normal, and it will start and run for less than a second and die. If I crank again, it will start just for a split second, long enough for the RPM needle to jump up to its idle position then fall down again. It dies basically as soon as I remove the key from "start", thats how short of a time it actually runs.

If I hold the throttle open slightly and crank it fires up perfectly, and I can even get it to idle by holding the throttle slightly open, but for 10 or 20 second as soon as I let off the throttle it dies. If I hold the throttle just enough for it to idle for over 20 or so second and release the pedal, it starts acting normally and will idle on its own. Is my IAC sticking or could this be a computer issue?

It's a good bet that a disassembly and cleaning of the IAC wouldn't hurt it a bit. Might as well look cleaning at the throttle body, too.

Well I just cleaned the whole TBI and rebuilt it with all new gaskets, o rings, 90# injectors, and diaphram. I didnt touch the throttle shaft bearings or blades, and I just carefully took out the IAC and put it back in because I was afraid to touch it since the manual said something about special coatin on the threads.

The coating on the thread was probably the sealant on the mounting threads. You already took care of that when you removed and installed it. Disassembly of the IAC is not rocket science, just patience. Actually, if you have a plastic bag and a twist-tie, you can let the ECM disassemble it:
