yeah i just had something just start up on my car. sometimes when i go to start my car it makes a slight knocking then it just makes a whinning sound like its trying to turn over but doesnt.

nothing seems to work to help start it like pumping the gas(which i didint think would do anything)
however it seems that once i shift from to neutral then park then start it it still has that slight knock but it starts.

can someone please help me.

 

anyone? i really dont know what the problem is and i dont want to do any more damage to the car.

 

are you saying that the turns over and or starts? or that there is just a knock and or whirring noise?does the starter engage and turn the engine over ok?

 

well there is a slight knock and a whirring sound. it sounds to me like the starter is not engaging sometimes. could this be the problem? maybe my starter is loose.

 

could be.... have somone watch as you try to start it,is the front pullys turning? or if they can see the starter is it jumping?...tao
