Weird Gas problem - maybe

the other day i noticed a severe drop throughout my power band and starting off from a dead stop, felt like starting in second gear. a day or two later, it got to the point that when i went below about 2500-ish rpm it felt like the car wasnt getting fuel (jerking, choking..). I changed the fuel filter and it all went away for a couple days. came back again yesterday, so i changed the filter again and it was completly clean. But right after, i got all my power back. But that only lasted like 1 hour.

so now im stumped. i figured it was stuff in my tank, but after seeing nothing in the second filter, im confused.

any ideas?

It would probably be a good time to check your feed line fuel pressure. IIRC you should see 40+ psi for TPI (please correct me if I have that value wrong). Anything less and you have a dying fuel pump. You can rent a fuel pressure tester for free at your local autozone.

its somewhere around 42psi i think. But what would this prove?

I can tell already that the car isnt getting enough gas. But a drop in pressure could be a clogged pump/filter as well...
