Just bought a 91 camaro, have some questions
i just bought a 91 RS camaro V8 5 speed, i paid 1,500 for it and was wondering if it was a good deal or not, under the hood theres a comp cam sticker but i cant notice if it actually has one in it or not. the car red lines at 7,000 rpms and it runs a little rough when its cold outside, any ideas if it has one or do all 305 SB's red line at 7k?

the motor actually revs to 7K or the guage goes that high. my ta's guage goes to 8K if the car is in decent shape, paint tires clutch interior, and runs 1500 is pretty good.

what induction system is on it? Sounds a tad on the high side. Thats way too high for a TPI car.

Just because the red line goes to 7k, doesnt mean you need to go that high at all times. Personally I am not one comfortable yet for building something that you dump the clutch and hold on at that RPM. And thats a 20HP sticker under the hood, got one on my lawnmower. Grass dont stand a chance.
Only way to check out that cam is to take it out and read the numbers off the back of the cam.

its throttle body injected, to remove the cam would i have to remove the engine or is there an easier way to remove it. and i only red lined it once to see whats my limitations were. when i bought the car it also came with some crappy custom exhaust. from the cat i have a 2 foot long straight pipe and then theres 2 pipes welded to that one (it has no muffler)and it comes out infront of the rear wheel, am i gonna lose power with this set up, because i have decreased the amount of back pressure?

7000 rpm on stock internals is asking for a rod through the oil pan.
